Adding a furry family member
We’re so happy you’re considering adding a TSDP dog to your family! Take it from us, no love is more unconditional than the love from a rescue dog. ❤️
Welcoming a new dog to your family is an exciting time, but we know it can also be stressful. We are here to support you! We have adoption counselors who will guide you through the process and are available for any questions.
Adoption process
Step 1
Fill out the application form. This does not obligate you to adopt but allows us to understand what you’re looking for in a dog. If you have any questions about the adoption process or a specific dog, please email placement@thestreetdogproject.org.
If you have other pets, we’ll contact your vet about them. We will also contact your landlord to verify if dogs are allowed and confirm the status of the pet deposit.
Step 2
If the application is approved, we’ll have a phone call to answer any questions and then set up a meet-and-greet.
Step 3
We’ll visit your home to review the safety of the property. If the decision is made to proceed with a home trial, we will collect the adoption fee and signed adoption contract.
Step 4
The dog will start a 2-week trial in your home. This is to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone involved. If at the end of the trial, the dog is a “keeper” then the adoption will be finalized. The dog will officially be a part of your family!

Adoption fees
The adoption fee is $225 for dogs over 1 year old and $250 for puppies.
The fee covers vaccinations, de-wormer, microchip, spay/neuter, and all dogs of age are tested for heartworms and treated if positive. All dogs are on monthly flea/tick, and heartworm preventatives.
We spend an average of $450 on each dog (boarding, vet care, training, etc) so the adoption fee helps offset our expenses.

After the adoption is finalized, if something happens weeks, months, or years down the road and you’re unable to keep your TSDP dog, then we required the dog to be returned to us. We don’t want to see them fall into the wrong hands be euthanized at a shelter.
No refund will be issued.
