Heart of a Champion: Roscoe's Story
Saved in the nick of time
The Street Dog Project believes every dog deserves a fighting chance. Not only had Roscoe sustained a severe leg injury from being hit by a car, but he was also heartworm positive. Thankfully, fosters (and future adopters) Amy and Anthony stepped up and saved Roscoe at the last minute.
Roscoe had a long recovery ahead of him. But through all of the medical treatments, appointments, and pain, Roscoe remained loving and resiliant. After surgery, he slowly started putting weight on his hurt leg. From there, he couldn’t be stopped!
Roscoe, agility rockstar
Amy and Anthony couldn’t imagine their lives without Roscoe and officially adopted him in January 2018. After obedience training, they decided to give agility training a try. Little did they know this would become a passion for both Roscoe and Amy.
While there was some hesitancy about how the high-impact training would affect Roscoe’s leg, his vet was confident the training would help strengthen it.
After a great start in their first competition, the pair was hooked. Although Amy is proud of the ribbons and titles they’ve achieved, the most rewarding part has been the great relationship they’ve built together.
“Inside every rescue is the heart of a champion.”
Roscoe, loyal companion
Amy recalls how Roscoe has changed her life:
“Adopting Roscoe has been the most rewarding experience of my life. He makes us smile every day, and we couldn’t imagine life without him. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have learned about training and dog behavior or been to places I would have never seen.
We took the chance to save a life and never regretted our decision. He is so very special, as they all are. Inside every rescue is the heart of a champion.”
